Weil wrote articles, published routines (cycle training, bench press guidance) and mentored/consulted with other lifters. Weil favored training the bench heavy and relatively infrequently many of his notes recommend one dedicated bench session per week with 3 - 5 rep heavy sets and strict form.
If your goal is to raise a contest bench, Weil’s program is highly bench-specific (heavy compound benching + targeted assistance) and has historical pedigree producing very large benches
