Girevoy Sport is the sport of lifting kettlebells. While most of the US is enthralled by "Hardstyle" and Pavel's ways, the world is full of Gireviks (kettlebell lifters). It is in many ways the anti-thesis of strength sports in that it is not how much you can lift but how many times you can lift it.
As a powerlifter, weightlifter, and Highland Games thrower, I thought that strongman was "cardio" training. It wasn't until trying to master the Red Bells from Hell that I understood what kind of fitness I was missing.
This program is nine weeks of training broken into three blocks of three weeks followed by a taper week ending in competition or testing of a new max.
There is no allegiance to one philosophy of training but instead relying on simple mathematical progression at three different rep ranges. It includes strength work with heavy bells, strength endurance work with bells slightly over competition weight, and high repetition work with competition bells.
This is the full program. It can be modified to accommodate an abbreviated training schedule or extended to fit your training calendar.
