Most strategies in the hunting industry do not incorporate a science-based method to prepare you for the mountains effectively. Implementing new and established periodization techniques in your workout regimen can enhance your stamina, strength, and time spent in the mountains. These strategies for creating a periodization program are utilized by premier strength and conditioning coaches worldwide to develop exceptional athletes. From Olympic contestants to college athletes, every team and coach adopts a periodization strategy in their workouts to maximize training efficacy. Hunting is no exception.

In this program, I focus on movement analysis to optimize your physical performance for a hunting trip. Whether you’re in the backcountry or front-country, this workout is tailored to fit your needs. I examine the movements involved in hunting and program exercises that target those specific muscles, heart rate, time under tension, and mobility requirements to enhance your training.

Each movement in this workout is designed to reflect the activities you would perform in the mountains. To prevent injuries during training — which can hinder your hunt — I incorporate mobility and movement preparation exercises. Additionally, I analyze the stamina required for mountain hunting and aim to replicate the same heart rate and rate of perceived exertion during the workout to prepare you for the challenging days ahead.

This program is beneficial for both beginners and advanced hunting athletes. Regardless of your experience level, it will equip you for any situation you may encounter.
