The RESTORE phase is the foundational, corrective exercise stage which emphasizes the isolation of particular muscles. Specifically, the isolation level is comprised of both foam rolling and stretching of overactive muscles in addition to progressive isolated strengthening for the underactive muscles.

The REBUILD phase is the stage during which the strength training progresses from the isolation of specific muscle groups to the integration process, where muscles have to work together to string together movements that more closely mimic the demands of everyday life. In the REBUILD phase, the focus is on laying a solid foundation for which to build upon with more functional movements. The emphasis is on developing core strength in addition to mastering the four foundational movements patterns: squatting, hinging, pushing, and pulling.

The final phase is the REFINE phase. Emphasis is on developing functional strength. The functional movements of emphasis are various unilateral movements, rotational movements, and loading the gait.

Matthew holds a master's degree in performance enhancement and injury prevention. In addition to his degree, he is certified as a strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association as well as both a corrective exercise specialist and performance enhancement specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

How does it work?
